I started Slim in 6 with Linda to workout with her on something but it turned out to be a very good and challenging program. I also attempt to keep my calories between 1200-1500 a day. I use fitday.com supplamented by dietfacts.com to keep track I'm sure it is not entirely accurate but it serves its purpose.

Monday

Afternoon: Eliptical 33 minutes, weights 30 minutes

Evening: Slim in 6 (Ramp it up) which is basically 47 minutes of aerobics with some resistance bands and such thrown in

Tuesday
Afternoon: Eliptical 33 minutes, weights 30 minutes
Evening: Slim in 6 (Ramp it up)

Wed
Afternoon: Eliptical 33 minutes, weights 30 minutes
Evening: Slim in 6 (Ramp it up), Basketball 2 hours full court, Fighter Practice

Thursday
Afternoon: Eliptical 33 minutes, weights 30 minutes
Evening: Slim in 6 (Ramp it up), Lacrosse 3v3 indoors 1.5 hours

Friday
Slim in 6 (Ramp it up)

Saturday
Slim in 6 (Ramp It up)

Sunday
Lacrosse full field outdoors 1 hour

So a bit of background. I've started playing lacrosse like 7 months or so ago indoors in a 3v3 league. This is called box lacrosse. Ir has a shared goalie and a 1/2 court basketball type of feel to it. The last couple of weeks I finally started playing full field lacrosse. This wasa big adjustment for me. You get a bit more rest but the action seems a little more intsense. It plays a bit like hockey or soccer with the offsides rules if you have to many people on one side of the field.

At any rate I was playing defense and passing the ball up whenever I would get one. Then one of the people I play with one wed as well as Sunday's came over and said "James you are the fastest person on this field next time you get a ball run it up and someone will drop back for you". Ok so this sounded like a brilliant plan and visions of glory filled my head. So next ball I scooped and sprinted down the length of the field. One of their d-men stepped up and I juked him out. Got a clear shot on goal but the goalie was good and blocked it. Then it hit me. I had to sprint back to make sure defense was covered. Needless to say I was pretty out of breath for a bit. You would think this would stop me from trying it again but I honestly can't wait for the next down ball and my opportunity to turn on the after burners yet again.

In other lax news I am getting better, I catch the ball way more often now and have some good dodges in my arsenal. It is good to know I am still fast enough to run with the young whipper snappers.

Should people know who John Wilkes Booth is? This all started when a week or so ago we were discussing the Karl Rove thing at work and one of my co-workers did not even know who he was. So being the kind person that I am I gave him the benefit of the doubt and went through a series of people I thought he should know.

1. I thought maybe he liked science so we went with Stephen Hawking (No)

2. Fredrick Douglas (no)

3. George Washington Carver (No)

4. Who wrote the declaration of independence (no)

5. Who was George Armstrong Custer (kinda)

6. Who killed George Armstrong Custer (no) What battle was it (no)

7. Jefferson Davis (no)

8. I told him William Tecumseh Sherman was a general in the civil war so the question here was what side did he fight for (No)

9. Who is John Wilkes Booth (No)

At which point I said I was done with him and to go learn some history before speaking to me again. I admit perhaps I was a bit civil war era centric but still. In fairness to him I asked other people the same question and many of them did not know. So I guess my question is in the roundabout way we arrived here should people at least have a basic knowledge of history. I know what I think but I love history so do I give it an undue amount of importance?

James

So I made this jerk steak recipe from Bobby Flay's show Throwdown on the food network. He lost but the recipe seemed awesome so I gave it a shot. When I make this again I will use 2 habanero pepper's to make it even spicier. This turned out awesome though and don't pass on the papaya relish it really made this dish even more awesome.

Jerk Rubbed Rib-Eye with Green Papaya Relish
Recipe courtesy Bobby Flay, 2007
See this recipe on air Sunday Aug. 26 at 4:00 PM ET/PT.
Show: Throwdown with Bobby Flay
Episode: Jerk Ribeye
1 medium red onion, coarsely chopped
4 green onion, coarsely chopped
1/2 to 1 habanero or Scotch bonnet chile, coarsely chopped
1 (2-inch) piece fresh ginger, coarsely chopped
2 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup canola oil
2 (1-pound, 2-inch thick) boneless rib-eye steaks
1 recipe Green Papaya Relish, recipe follows

Combine red and green onion, habanero, ginger, garlic, thyme, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and oil in a food processor and process to a thin paste.

Heat the grill or grill pan to high.

Remove the steaks from the refrigerator 20 minutes before grilling.
